I chose not to use this feature in the scope of this project. If desired, custom animation can also be developed, within Powtoon, to further enhance the content.
Develop all slides, using this technique, providing detailed graphics, scripting, and other key video aspects, on a frame-by-frame basis, to ensure logical flow and that no gaps exist in the story being told. Each slide should correspond to the storyboard to provide an ongoing flow that builds the video logically and engagingly, as shown in Figures 1 and 2 below.įigure One: Storyboard Segment 2 Figure Two: Developed Slide Content Matching Storyboard Segment 2 Powtoon uses a slide format, similar to PowerPoint, as a framework for video development (see left panel on Figure 2). Use the storyboard to begin file development. Prepare your storyline, script, and graphics before recording your voice overs to ensure a logical flow and appropriate timing. This prevents post-production rework, which can be costly from a time-spent perspective, as redesign and additional audio work may be needed.

Step-by-Step Process – Story Line Development A storyboard was developed to lay out the flow, graphics, and script for the video and once complete, a review was completed to identify tool strengths and areas of opportunity. Additionally, using Powtoon: Super Power Your Content as well as the instructional videos included within the Powtoon tool, the user can quickly begin using the tool without a lot of instructional lead-time.Ī superhero theme was used to emphasize how dramatically content can be enhanced without spending a lot of extra time to develop it. This allows instructional design students, using as a resource, to obtain a video creation tool with no out-of-pocket cost. This particular tool was selected as a free student version was available.
This allowed me to learn and review the tool while at the same time creating a video to reinforce the learning that took place. In this video, I chose to showcase the Powtoon video creation tool by developing a Powtoon instructional video using the tool itself. The overall target market for this website is instructional designers, educators, and others who want to learn and utilize a variety of graphic and instructional design tools and techniques, enabling them to incorporate engaging design elements and content into their instructional materials, to make learning fun. – Graphicsa video was created and uploaded to YouTube at and also directly to – Multimedia to continue creating Smiles by Design.
